Westfield Style Workshop

When: 31 March 2012
Where: Westfield Parramatta, NSW, Australia

I’ve never been to a mall fashion event before, but was keen to see the key trends for Winter being interpreted for the mass market and a variety of body types.
WestAd
Being a VIP, we were treated to a Westfield gift card and a goodie bag which contained Maybelline nail polish and blush, Infallible Lip Duo Compact from L'Oréal Paris, as well as Nivea and Dove moisturisers.

Sixties
The trends covered were polka dots, sixties, textures, 1950’s ladylike and mixed prints.

Here were some of my favourites.

The Polka Dots

I LOVE polka dots! Even though this is a ‘trend’ this style is timeless and versatile, and therefore has an excellent wardrobe life as well as a staple in my closet.

It’s one of those rare patterns that simply just works for dresses, skirts, tops, and tights as well as a multitude of occasions.

The Sixties

When I think of the sixties I think of geometrics prints, distinctive colours (teal, maroon & mustard), shortness and my personal favourite, the Peter Pan collar!

The 1950’s Ladylike

This was a unique interpretation of a fashion show to bring it to a busy shopping centre and make it entertaining for the audience who may not normally have the opportunity to see a fashion show. The choice of models was well thought out to be diverse in order to represent different body types and ethnicities. While the brands featured catered to different audiences from Paper Scissors, City Chic, Portmans, Review, and Cue.
