Now THIS is a Cosplay Competition! Hosted on the main stage with a few hundred seats, every person who wanted to catch the competition could!
As this is an Anime and Manga convention, contestants were required to wear a costume based on a character from an Anime, Manga or Japanese Game.
Without further ado, here are the winners and runners-up of SMASH! 2012.

Interesting choice to have the winner and runner-up were from the same video game!

Anna as Fujimoto from Ponyo
By far the most entertaining Cosplay skit I have ever seen! With an original skit, use of childhood favourite “Under the Sea” from The Little Mermaid AND the use of remote controlled shark? What’s not to love?

Best Skit Runner-up
"Gentou" Sarah, Gigi, and Cassi as Walpurgis Night, Akemi Homura, and Kaname Madoka from Puella Magi Madoka Magica
The most photographed Cosplayers had to be this group! Who must have spent all day in poses for the SMASH! attendees (thank you girls). Obviously the costume for Walpurgis Night (far right) is not the most comfortable costume to wear all day, she needed a lot of assistance to get on and off the stage! Other than the comfort factor, it was visually stunning so it was disappointing that they did not win.

Even though these Cosplayers are the official winners and runners-up, there were still a lot of amazing Cosplayers who took to the SMASH! stage. Stay tuned for more coverage of more entrants from the SMASH! Cosplay Competition.
