My first ever famil!
I could pretend that I am oh-so-cultured... but I'm not. I had no clue what a famil was until someone explained it to me, a famil is short for familiarisation. That's exactly what Tourism Queensland organised for myself and selected bloggers to really see Brisbane as part of our Problogger Conference experience.
Myself, Katherine & Gayel took part in a Shop in Style Escape tour of Brisbane hosted by Amanda where we visited local hotspots & 'hidden gems.' And of course, ate... a lot.
Let's start off with the food...
Monty's ChocolatesIn the words of Anastacia Steele... Oohhhh myyyy! If you did get that reference, shame on you!
This was 50 shades of delicious. As much as I try to do the whole "I'm a petite girl, it's too much" act. Whatever, it was worth it.
The hot chocolate was so thick, that the spoon stands up all by itself... not only was it a neat party trick but probably the most indulgent and best tasting hot chocolate ever.
Della ManoInfamous for their brownies, we were served a platter of 6 varieties of brownies and a truffle.
I manged to squeeze in (another) hot chocolate, which tasted even better in between bites of their original brownie.
And we also fit in some lunch... (I finished the entire plate!)
The Happiness Place
Not on the official tour itintery but definitely my favourite shopping destination we found was The Happiness Place. Even though the name is a bit on the cheesy side, when I walked in. I was wow'd.
My amateur photography does not do this place justice at all.
Spotting a 'random' TARDIS in what looks to be a backyard in Brisbane?
My inner goddess completely freaked out!
For some reason I'm really rolling with the 50 Shades references for this post, sorry (not sorry!).
LibertineFeaturing sophisticated and chic fragrances you most likely never heard of for the mere mainstream consumer (me!), this was really an education. We spritzed over a dozen fragrances, with the key words of "sex" and "babymaker" used to describe certain fragrances... oh my.
Whenever I go to a new place where I don't know a local, it's always tough as you have no clue where to go other than the touristy locations. This is a great idea for those who really have no clue where to go, and plus you have the luxury of your guide driving you around!
